Build Your Dream Layout Without Breaking the Bank
If you are itching to get started on your layout, build that award-winning structure, or lay custom trackwork so it looks just like your reference photo, but aren’t ready to invest in expensive, specialized tools, the members of the Nutmeg Division may be able to help. The division is starting up a tool loan program that can get you access to those tools. For division members that may own some of those special tools which only see limited usage, the tool loan program gives a chance to share your knowledge and modeling experience with others in the hobby. A great benefit of model railroading is the teamwork and enduring friendships formed during work sessions, making the journey—as with traveling by rail—just as rewarding as the finished model.
The tool loan program shows the inventory of tools that the division membership owns and will loan out to members. The individual member maintains ownership of the tool and offers it on a loan basis only. The division maintains the inventory and facilitates the loan out to the members.
Rules for the tool loan program:
- If you are interested in borrowing these tools, you must be an NMRA member in good standing and a member of the Nutmeg Division.
- You must make arrangements with the division storekeeper to pick up the tool. Typically, tools would be exchanged at the bi-monthly division meetings. Tools will not be shipped.
- To request a tool, you should submit an email request to toolshare@nutmegdivision.org. Please enter ‘Tool Loan’ in the subject line and let the storekeeper know what tool you would like to borrow.
- While there is no specific time limit on the loan period, we ask that the tool be returned at the next bi-monthly division meeting. If you need the tool longer than two months, please send an email asking if you can hold onto it longer.
- We may also ask that the tool be returned if you have had it for more than two months and another division member has requested it.
